Understanding Lock Preview

1. What is Lock Preview?

Lock Preview is a 15-minute review period that begins after your group parlay is complete and before it becomes LIVE. During this time, every participant can review the finalized parlay—including the participants, picks, odds, buy-ins, potential payouts, and game start times.

If nothing changes and all validation checks pass, the parlay automatically locks when the timer expires.

2. Why did Parlaymint build Lock Preview?

Traditional sportsbooks lock bets the moment they’re submitted because one person is making one decision.

Parlaymint is different. A group parlay is a shared commitment between multiple people. Before the wager becomes final, every participant deserves one last opportunity to review the completed parlay and decide whether they still want to be part of it.

Lock Preview was built to promote transparency, fairness, and confidence—so everyone knows exactly what they’re agreeing to before the parlay becomes LIVE.

3. Why is the review period 15 minutes?

Fifteen minutes gives everyone enough time to review the completed parlay, ask questions, and decide whether they still want to participate, while still allowing the parlay to lock before the first game begins.

The timer is controlled by the server, is the same for every participant, and cannot be shortened or extended. That ensures everyone receives the same review experience, regardless of when they open the app or what device they’re using.

4. Can I leave during Lock Preview?

Yes. Lock Preview is your final opportunity to decide whether you still want to participate before the parlay becomes LIVE.

If you choose to leave, your buy-in is returned, the parlay reopens, and the remaining participants are given a new opportunity to review the updated parlay before it can lock.

5. Why can’t I change my pick during Lock Preview?

Lock Preview works because everyone is reviewing the exact same completed parlay.

Changing a pick would alter the odds, potential payouts, and the wager the rest of the group is reviewing. Instead, if you no longer want your pick, you can leave the parlay before it becomes LIVE.

6. What happens if someone else leaves?

If a participant leaves during Lock Preview, the parlay reopens because the wager has changed.

The remaining participants receive a new 15-minute Lock Preview to review the updated parlay before it can become LIVE. This ensures everyone is always reviewing the same completed wager.

7. What happens if a pick becomes unavailable?

If the sportsbook removes one of the picks during Lock Preview, the parlay reopens and the affected participant is asked to choose a replacement pick.

Once the replacement is made, everyone receives a new Lock Preview to review the updated parlay before it can become LIVE.

8. When does my parlay officially lock?

Your parlay becomes LIVE when the 15-minute Lock Preview ends and all validation checks pass.

Once it’s LIVE, no one can join, leave, or change their pick. From that point forward, you’re ready to enjoy the games together.

Notifications

9. Will I receive Lock Preview notifications?

Yes. Parlaymint sends notifications when something important happens during Lock Preview.

Notifications that require your attention or materially affect your participation—such as Replace your pick, Your spot was removed, or Parlay dissolved—are always eligible to be delivered as push notifications.

Routine status updates, such as Lock Preview started or Player left during Lock Preview, can be turned off if you prefer fewer interruptions. Regardless of your notification settings, every Lock Preview event remains available in your Notifications Center.

10. Can I turn off Lock Preview notifiications?

Yes. You can disable Lock Preview Updates in your notification settings if you don’t want routine Lock Preview status changes to generate push notifications.

When this setting is turned off, you’ll still receive important notifications that require action or materially affect your participation, while informational updates remain available in your Notifications Center. That means you can reduce interruptions without losing visibility into what happened during your parlay’s review process.
